At A CLOSER LOOK, our inspectors have the training, experience, and knowledge to perfectly inspect the commercial site. The commercial property can be of any kind such as an office building, warehouse, industrial facility, retail store, and shop. From top to bottom, our inspectors will thoroughly go over every aspect of the property to give you the most detailed and accurate report. These include: Roofing                                        Foundation Drainage and Grading Around the Building Framing and Building Envelope Heating and Air Conditioning Systems Plumbing Vertical Transportation Electrical Systems Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems

Radon Mitigation

Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, but it may be a problem in your home. The U.S. Surgeon General warns that radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, causing an estimated 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year. If your home has high radon levels, you’re at risk for developing lung cancer. Testing is the only way to know your home’s radon levels. All homes should be tested for radon, regardless of their age or type. Testing is inexpensive, easy and should only take a few minutes of your time. Test kits may be purchased at home improvement stores. Radon is not produced as a commercial product; it is a naturally occurring radioactive gas from the normal breakdown of uranium in soil. Radon can be found across the country. In Pueblo County, more than half the homes that tested for radon have levels higher than the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended maximum radon exposure, 4 picoCuries per liter (pCi/L). A family whose home has radon levels of 4 pCi/l is exposed to approximately 35 times as much radiation as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission would allow if that family were standing next to the fence of a radioactive waste site. There are no immediate symptoms to alert you of radon in your home. It typically takes years of exposure to radon before any symptoms of illness show. Current state surveys show that one in five homes have elevated radon levels. If your home has high concentrations of radon, there are ways to reduce it to safer levels. -- Pueblo City-County Health Department
